Toasted Open Sandwich

Toasted Open Sandwich made in a Countertop Convection Oven is quick and easy.  Your favorite food combinations can be used to make a fast, delicious lunch or snack.

I had a Mushroom and Cheese Toasted Open Sandwich for lunch.

Ingredients

  • Bread
  • Mushrooms
  • Cheese
  • Salt and Pepper

Instructions

I used the high tray for cooking when making sandwiches.  I also usually put a piece of Aluminium Foil down to make it easier to clean at the bottom of the bowl.

Place the bread down on a cutting board, then slice the mushrooms thinly and layer as thickly or thinly as you like.  I like it thick so put on 2 layers of mushrooms.  I added salt and pepper, then put on cheese slices however you can also use grated cheese.

Place the open sandwich on the high tray.

Place the lid on and select 350° F or 175° C for 15 minutes.

Note: Each convection oven is different so the time to make them will depend on your oven.  Always check from time to time when first making a new recipe to find out how long your oven needs to cook for.

      Hi Hilary
Once you start making them in the convection oven you will wonder why you ever made them any other way. The timer means you never have to worry about burning them.

I love toasted sandwiches, especially on a cold day. There are so many choices that you can add to it, any left over meat goes well, and then with cheese melted on top. Scrumptous!
