Garlic Bread Roll
I got the idea for this recipe from Jamie Oliver’s 30 Minute Meals.
- Bread roll / Bread stick / Turkish Bread
- Sea Salt
- Olive Oil
- Waxed/Baking paper (wet it and crunch it up)
170oC / 340oF.
Cut the bread partly open in half and then did 3 cuts across that cut.
Chop the parsley, garlic and sea salt together as finely as you can to make the rub.
Rub olive oil all over the bread roll, then sprinkled in the parsley, garlic and salt mixture.
The trick to make this work is Jamie’s idea to use waxed paper and wet it. It gives the bread time to steam and cook the garlic and then as it dries, the bread becomes crunchy.
This recipe worked perfectly in my round convection oven.
I cooked the bread at a lower temperature to give it a chance to steam/cook the garlic. After 10 minutes I checked it and found the garlic was still not cooked so I wet the paper again and cooked for another 10 minutes. As you can see from the picture, it came out looking and tasting delicious.
I take the paper off and give the bread roll a quick cook underneath as I like the whole roll to be crunchy. I cooked it on a higher temperature for 5 minutes.
You can add Parmesan, chilli or any other herb or seasoning that you like.
My Garlic Bread Roll has been cooked many times since I tried this out. It’s great with soups and so many recipes and gives that added enjoyment to meals.
I hope you enjoy this recipe.
